Femme Frontera Children’s Showcase

Femme Frontera is celebrating children’s short films from the U.S.-Mexico border region of El Paso, TX, Las Cruces, NM, and Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico.
ABOUT THE CHILDREN’S SHOWCASE
For the first time in Femme Frontera history, children ages 5 to 17 (male, female, transgender, genderqueer, and gender non-conforming) are invited to submit 1 to 3 minute short films to screen before the 4th Annual Femme Frontera Filmmaker Showcase on Saturday, September 21st, 2019. The half hour program will showcase work made by children from the U.S.-Mexico border region of El Paso, TX, Las Cruces, NM and Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico.
For 2019, we are seeking short films with, but not limited to, the following themes:
Ages 5 to 11 - Young Minds, Big Hearts - Little filmmakers are encouraged to spotlight a person, animal, hobby, or topic that they are passionate about and brings them joy.
Ages 12 to 17 - The Hero in Me - Young filmmakers are encouraged to discuss a topic that they are passionate about and what they can do, or are already doing, to inspire positive change.
All filmmakers MUST:
be between the ages of 5 and 17.
create films NO LONGER THAN 1 to 3 minutes from opening titles to closing credits.
live in El Paso, Las Cruces, Juarez or closely surrounding areas.
be written and directed by the filmmaker. We strongly encourage parents, relatives, friends, etc. to allow these young people’s stories to flow from their own hearts. However, filmmakers can receive technical assistance from others to shoot and edit their movies.
For Summer 2019, Femme Frontera will offer summer workshops for children ages 5 to 17 and adults for those who would like to learn more about filmmaking - shooting, lighting, story development, and editing. These workshops are FREE and now open for registration.
HOW TO SUBMIT
Films for review may be submitted to email@example.com by sending us a link of your video uploaded to YouTube. If you’d like to keep this link private, please be sure to send us the password. Please also include the film title, film synopsis, filmmaker’s name, age, hometown or current city, and phone number. It is important to note that you keep the original copy of the film for screening purposes. We will be requesting your original movie file for the Children’s Showcase.
